Grassroots football: striker Southern's 200th for Crewe FC, Curshaws crowned Crewe and District champs
CURSHAWS maintained their 100 per record as they clinched the CREWE AND DISTRICT LEAGUE title.
The Sandbach-based side beat local rivals Elworth Park Rangers 4-1 to make it 12 wins out of 12 during a stellar campaign which has seen them crowned champions with three games to play.
Ryan Simmons struck a hat-trick and Sam Critchley got the other in comfortable, if not as heavy a win as their club have been sometime accustomed too.
Crewe Town Jaguars came out on top with a 5-1 win over their reserve team, Crewe Town Reserves, a result that keeps them in second spot.
Mary Dendy beat Sandbach Town by the same scoreline to keep on the tails of Crewe Town. They are in third spot, three points behind with a game in hand and identical goal difference.
Rick Passoni struck a double and James Curbishley, Kyran Davies and Alex Hollinshead were also on the scoresheet for Dendy with Brandon Howman getting Town's consolation.
Meanwhile, Nathan Southern hit his 200th goal for Crewe FC as they went down to a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Lostock Gralam.
The long-serving clubman levelled for the Cumberland Arena hosts in the first half of the CHESHIRE LEAGUE end-of-season cup tournament, the J.B Parker Cup. But a poor second-half performance allowed the Northwich side to run out comfortable winners.
