COVID has reared its ugly head again in the grassroots circuit with the CREWE REGIONAL SUNDAY LEAGUE seeing three of its five Premier Division games cancelled.

The Lions had several players affected and their game with George Dragon was off along with the Cheshire Cheese versus Talbot clash which was postponed because the referee was isolating.

Crewe Athletic shelved their top-of-table clash with Broadhurst on Sunday morning after several players did not arrive for the game.

Of the two games that did go ahead NHB won 3-0 at Faddiley to go fourth in the table.

The two bottom teams, Winnington SC and Raven Salvador, played out a 2-2 draw. The visitors led 2-0 at the interval thanks to goals from Josh Wynne and Robsan Osman. But Winnington fought back to earn a draw with two goals from Chris Harmon, one being a penalty kick.

In Division One, Cooper Buckley beat Princes Feathers 6-2, but needed three late goals to ensure the victory. Tristan Sword netted a hat-trick, with Ben Burrow, Matt King and Brad Stockton also on target. Kevin Douglas scored both the goals for Princes Feathers.

Nantwich Pirates are another team who started the season slowly, but they had far too much for newcomers Ruskin Park running up a 10-2 scoreline.

Joey Hilton scored a hat-trick and Declan Scott and Anthony Broadhurst both netted doubles with further goals from Wayne Garnett, Mile Truan and Chris Lunn completing the tally.

Sandbach Town remain undefeated after shading their game against improving Leighton FC 2-0 with a fine strike from Joe Macdonald and a late penalty from Lewis Barker.

C & N Utd. beat White Horse 4-2. Club Secretary Tom Lloyd scored twice, with Adam Smith and Chris Worstencroft also netting.

Tom Royle has been in good scoring form for White Horse, and he scored an excellent goal, with an own goal completing the White Horse total.

The two remaining fixtures in the first round of the Crewe and District FA Knockout competition were both completed.

In the Sunday Cup, League Premier leaders Betley were too strong for Willaston White Star, winning 4-1. Keiron Duckers scored twice, and Danny Lavalette and Johnny Hancock also netted.

In The Vase, the game between Audlem and JS Bailey had to be abandoned last month after a JS Bailey player suffered a serious injury. In the replayed fixture Division One leaders Audlem edged the contest by a 4-3 margin.

Nick Gregory maintained his excellent start to the season for Audlem by bagging a hat-trick with Ben Walker also scoring. Connor Jones, Nathan Stockton and Greg Bailey scored for the visitors.

In the CHESHIRE LEAGUE goals from Jordan Bennion, PJ Hudson and Nathan Southern secured Crewe FC a 3-1 win over Garswood United at the Cumberland Arena as they bid to catch up on their rivals.

It was only Crewe FC's second success of the campaign, but they have played the second least games in the Premier Division where they currently stand third from bottom.
