A Crewe man has become the third member of his family to win a British Championship in banger racing.

Aaron Smith of Frank Webb Avenue, powered his old Honda Civic to victory in the Chequered Roof Finals at Trent Raceway, near Burton-on-Trent, on Sunday 15 September.

The Crewe man won on an extremely slippery clay surface after many hours of pre-event rain.

Aaron Smith's victory came 38 years after uncle, Graham Smith, raced to the first of his three British Championships (Aaron Smith).

It also came almost 30 years since father, Fred, wore the chequered roof after winning at Buxton.

The icing on the cake for Aaron, a Bentley employee, was 10-year-old son, Finley, also winning his Junior Novice race in his Nissan Micra.
