AHEAD of tonight's transfer window shutting Crewe Alex boss Dave Artell finished a busy Bank Holiday weekend by completing deals for two Scotts - Kashket and Robertson.

Experienced ex-Wycombe Wanderers attacker Scott Kashket has arrived at the Mornflake Stadium on a one-year deal, while Celtic have agreed to loan out promising young midfielder Scott Robertson for the season.

Kashket, 25, has been an impressive performer for Gareth Ainsworth's side in League Two and League One and featured in the Chairboys' brief appearance in the Championship last term.

He had his contract cancelled at Adams Park so he could join the Alex.

Kashket once scored twice against his new employers in a 5-1 League Two hammering meted out by Wycombe in September 2016, a season in which the striker finished with a 16-goal tally.

He has been less prolific at a higher level, but was nevertheless part of the Wanderers' side winning promotion to the second tier in 2020.

Robertson, 20, who came through Celtic's youth ranks, enjoyed loan spells at Gillingham and Doncaster last term.

He could feature for Crewe as they start their Papa John's Trophy campaign with a trip to Shrewsbury tonight (K.O 7pm).

Both deals were finalised on Monday evening after Artell promised incomings ahead of the weekend defeat at Charlton (0-2) to address Crewe's poor start to the campaign and fill some notable gaps up top and in the middle of the park.

Alex Assistant Manager Kenny Lunt said: "We're getting a few really good players in through the door. But it's been the toughest window we've had. Normally at Crewe there's one or two going but there has been a big changeover in the last six months.

"We need to do better and keep building the relationship between the players. After the Shrewsbury game we'll have 10 days and we'll put a lot of work into it. It's been Saturday and Tuesday so far so it will be good to have some more time on the training ground.

"We need to start scoring goals and winning games. People will have chances [tonight] and hopefully they'll take them and keep their places for the next league game, which is against Shrewsbury (September 11)."

Of the defeat at The Valley, Lunt added: "I don't think we got out of our own half in the first 15 minutes, but we defended and got through that period and started to control the game really well.

"But it was our decision making and a couple of mistakes that really cost in a five-minute spell."
