The Canvas Skate Parks and Public Spaces development will see a new skate park created, along with associated improvements to accessibility within the park.

A new skate park will be developed at Queen Street Play Area, along with associated improvements to accessibility within the park (Cheshire East Council).

McLaren Street, Derby Docks, School Crescent are also seeing improvements, allowing these sites to be more accessible for local residents, creating 'pocket parks.'

The total investment in these four Crewe parks is almost £825,000 with the government's Towns Fund providing £425,000.

Cheshire East secured £400,000 additional funding from the Landfill Communities Fund via the FCC Communities Foundation, a not-for-profit business that awards grants for community projects.

Chair of Cheshire East Council's environment and communities committee, Cllr Mick Warren, said: "Pocket Parks are an outstanding example of how collaborative working should be and it's heartening to see a significant number of projects moving forward so quickly.

"These new works will really encourage more people to come out and enjoy these fresh new spaces safely and responsibly and provide new opportunities for all generations to enjoy their summer in Crewe."

The Crewe Pocket Parks project aims to improve local resident's physical mental wellbeing, regardless of age, with the new spaces giving people a place to spend time and enjoy.
