BUILDING work on an estate of "affordable" homes in Crewe has begun.

Contractors for the Guinness Partnership are undertaking preparatory work for 21 properties at the Moore Park Gardens development at Sydney Road.

The two, three and four bedroom homes are being provided for shared ownership and affordable rent.

Contractors, North Wales-based, Brenig have broken ground at the development and enabling works to prepare the site have started with the housing scheme due for completion in the summer of next year.

Chief Executive of The Guinness Partnership Catriona Simons said: "We are delighted to have started construction at our Crewe development. We will be providing much needed, high-quality homes in the area, as part of our long term commitment to building new homes and creating communities in the town."

Brenig Managing Director Mark Parry said his firm were committed to "using local labour and supply chains wherever possible", including apprenticeships."

You can register your interest in the shared ownership homes here.
