Work has started on Crewe's main retail park for the development of a highly anticipated British fashion and homeware retailer in the town.

Matalan is set to open on Grand Junction Retail Park this year, with work beginning at the site on Monday 4 September.

SAS Special Projects and White Box Interiors have been employed to refurbish the former Harvey's Furniture unit, with a brand new shop fit-out.

Matalan has now placed job adverts online for new full-time team manager and assistant manager roles in Crewe (Ryan Parker).

Crewe's first Matalan store, which was approved this March, is set to have a mezzanine floor installed, measuring 484 sqm.

As of August 2023, Matalan has 230 UK stores, with 184 in England (Ryan Parker).

Founded in 1985 by John Hargreaves, Matalan is named after his two sons Matt and Alan.

The leading UK and International omni-channel retailer offers women's clothing, men's clothing, kid's clothing, as well as homeware and furniture.

As of August 2023, Matalan has 230 UK stores, with 184 in England.

Matalan also has 50 international franchise stores within Europe, The Middle East and Africa, with its headquarters based in Knowsley, Merseyside
