Work has started on Crewe's leisure park for the development of a new 24-hour American fast-food drive-thru restaurant in the town.

Taco Bell is set to open on Phoenix Leisure Park, Dunwoody Way, this year, with work beginning at the site on Monday 28 August.

Havercroft Construction Ltd are employed to strip out the former Pizza Hut restaurant with scaffolding placed around the building.

Taco Bell plans to remove the existing doors, windows, flooring and seating arrangements, remodelling the whole interior and surrounding car park (Ryan Parker).

Another company will come in to develop the building into the new Taco Bell eatery.

Founded in 1962, Taco Bell serves a variety of Mexican-inspired food, including tacos, burritos, quesadillas and nachos.

After being approved for Phoenix Leisure Park this May, the fast food chain successfully removed a planning condition to install electric vehicle charging points in July.

Currently, the closest Taco Bell to Crewe is in Stafford, approximately 30 miles away.
