A WOMAN needed hospital treatment after a washing machine fire at a property in Sherborne Road.

Fire crews attended the incident at 21.37pm last night and although the fire was out when they arrived, one of the occupiers was suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation.

She was assessed by paramedics and taken to hospital in an ambulance.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We isolated the gas and electricity supplies, as well as the water supply to the washing machine."

Firefighters were in attendance for around an hour-and-a-half.

The condition of the woman is not known.
