A local woman was rushed to hospital after collapsing in a Crewe street over the weekend - confirmed Cheshire Constabulary.

The incident on Coppenhall Lane happened at approximately 2:30pm on Saturday (October 22).

Crewe Police officers on patrol within the town found the woman who collapsed.

Reports on social media suggested the woman had been knocked over by a vehicle.

Today (October 24), Cheshire Constabulary confirmed the incident to Nub News - saying she had collapsed and not been hit.

A spokesperson said: "At 2.30pm on Saturday 22 October police on patrol in Crewe came across a woman who had collapsed on Coppenhall Lane.

"Paramedics were called and the woman was taken to hospital.

Crewe Police officers on patrol within the town found the woman who had collapsed (Crewe Police).

"There were no reports of any collisions."
