Wistaston Jubilee Tennis Club aces shine on final's day

WISTASTON Jubilee Tennis Club (WJTC) staged its finals day with four titles up for grabs.
The club's two courts behind the Wistaston Memorial Hall and Community Centre were the venue for an action-packed day of competitive tennis in Sunday's sunshine to round off the summer season.
The afternoon started with the men's singles final, which saw George Raiswell retain his title by beating Ryan Harper-Griffiths 6-1, 6-4.
In the men's doubles final new pairing Ryan Harper-Griffiths and Arvind Kumar beat George Raiswell and Robert Sheffield 6-4, 6-4, while in the open doubles Ryan Harper-Griffiths teamed up with Paul Unwin to see off Chris Raiswell and John Lloyd 6-1, 7-6(3).
The club's junior tournament round robin in the morning ended with Sammy Hough topping the table with 28 points after seven juniors had battled it out for the title.
Club chairman Bill Heath presented the trophies to all the winners outdoors.
Tennis returned to the Wistaston club in May with members observing strict government and LTA advice relating to Covid-19
