With just 17 days to go until Christmas Day there's a real festive feel to this weekend's top events, which include the start of the Lyceum Theatre's always-popular panto on Friday and a Christmas carol concert in Weston on Saturday night.
Here's what's on offer around Crewe this weekend.
1. Sleeping Beauty The Pantomime Of Your Dreams
There's nothing quite like the panto run at Crewe Lyceum. Bobby Ball was to star in last year's cancelled Sleeping Beauty shows alongside partner Tommy Cannon.
This year bubbly Bobby Davro, X Factor finalist Amelia Lily and legendary panto dame Malcolm Lord hope their efforts on stage can provide a fitting tribute to Ball, who died from coronavirus in October 2020.
The comic talent of Davro and Lily's stunning vocals allied to the pure theatre of Lord, who recently revived his part in Rainbow's wonderful Bungle character in a Pizza Hut commercial, should create a magical show for a Crewe audience starved of panto fun for nearly two years.
The panto opens tomorrow night (December 10) and runs until Sunday, January 2.
You can read a Nub News review of the panto here. And you can buy tickets here.
2. Hit the North Record Fair
John Beddows from Sandbach-based Backtrax Music has been organising some cracking record fairs at Crewe Market Hall. The latest and last of 2021 is on Sunday (December 12) and promises to be another treat for fans of vinyl.
3. Together This Christmas Charity Concert
This promises to be a superb showcase of singers from the Crewe area getting together to raise the Christmas spirit at All Saints Church in Weston on Saturday night.
Vocal coach Kate Cubley is bringing her students for the concert and all the money raised from the event is to be shared between charities Friends for Leisure and Autism Inclusive.
Find out more here.
4. Christmas Karaoke Afternoon
The Cheese Hall is the place to be on Sundays if you like karaoke. This is the second Sunday of the pub's Christmas Karaoke Afternoons, so get down to the Earle Street venue and let your hair down.
