AS more and more events are being organised locally Nub News is launching a new weekly round up of what's on in Crewe each weekend.

Every Thursday we will now bring you our top picks of the events in our What's On section for the coming weekend.

And don't forget, if your business or organisation is running an event, you can advertise it for free with Crewe Nub News.

Simply follow this link to our What's On section and click the black 'Nub It' button to get started.

Here are our top events for the weekend ahead:

1. Bad Duke & Beggars at Crewe Market Hall

Bad Duke & Beggars are familiar faces on the local circuit with their inventive ska and reggae set. They are on stage at Crewe Market Hall on Friday night (October 15).

Expect classic ska covers and an infectious twist on dance floor favourites from other genres too.

You can read about the show on our What's On section.

2.Sarah Jane Morris at Crown Hotel Ballroom, Nantwich

The versatile singer will be forever recalled by those who sprung to their feet at parties to dance to The Communards' 1980s classic 'Don't leave me this way'.

But there are plenty more highlights among Sarah Jane's 30-year career than just that duet with Jimmy Somerville.

She has lent her rich contralto voice to many collaborations over the years with groups ranging from rock and soul to African blues, as well as classical orchestras and even a one-hundred cello ensemble.

Tickets are still available for this Sunday lunchtime (1.30pm) show as the Nantwich Words and Music Festival draws to a close.

Eddi Reader also performs tomorrow (Saturday) at Nantwich Civic Hall as part of the festival, but it is worth noting that legendary poet John Cooper Clarke's show at Nantwich Civic Hall tonight (Friday) is sold out.

You can read about the festival and how to get tickets at our What's On section.

3. Jimeoin at Crewe Lyceum.

Star of TV shows including Live at the Apollo and Sunday Night at the Palladium - Live! Irish comedian Jimeoin will have everyone rolling in the stalls and circle on Saturday night.
