Described as 'England's largest community-led festival of history and culture', Heritage Open Day sees towns and cities across the country celebrate their heritage, community and history through a range of events.
Crewe is no exception, and will celebrate its art, architecture, landscape, its 180 years of rail heritage, and more, in a myriad of different events taking place from 8-17 September.
Certainly, this is not so much a heritage open 'day' as a whole week of activities, talks, walks, shows and more.
Events include:
- Crewe Heritage Fair, celebrating railway heritage and featuring talks from rail societies
- 'Behind the scenes' events, at the station, the Lyceum, and more
- A walking tour with Cllr Ben Wye
- An open house on the historic 19th century Tollitt Street
- An art exhibition by SurvivorArts
- Live music, with performances by Alice Band, Train Set and more
- A classic car show
- A real ale festival
- And much more…

The nationwide organisers of Heritage Open Day say: "Every year in September it brings people together to celebrate their heritage, community and history.
"Stories are told, traditions explored, and histories brought to life. It's your chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences – and it's all free."
