A WESTON family's home has again been transformed into a 'Winter Wonderland' to raise money for a local hospice.

The pandemic hasn't stopped Graham Witter setting up a drive-thru event at Carters Green Farm in Jack Lane where thousands of twinkling lights and decorations, placed outside in the #StarlitGarden, will greet visitors from the safety of their own cars.

It is the eighth year that Graham has organised the display and the money raised will go to The Donna Louise Hospice, where his sister, Jessica, who had a great fascination for colour, light and sound, received respite care.

Over the last seven years, the Witters have raised £124,850 for families, like his, who rely on The Donna Louise for a range of care, support and respite services.

Graham's hard work and dedication recently saw him named in the Queen's Birthday Honours List 2020 and he received the British Empire Medal for his services to charitable fundraising and to the community in Crewe.

This year a #NameAStar initiative has been launched, where 150 personalised, handmade stars are displayed around the 20ft high Christmas tree, each containing the name of someone special from the local community.

The stars can then be collected in January as a lasting memory from this year's Winter Wonderland.

More than 20,000 people visited the display last December and this year it will be shining bright until Monday, December 28.

Santa will be visiting again every Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening to give everyone a very special Santa Wave. Event partner Whitby Morrison are laying on a delicious #FestiveIceCream which visitors can enjoy from their cars.

Graham said: "After such a difficult and challenging year for so many families and children across our community, I would like to invite everybody along to support this year's fundraising efforts.

"My ambition is to bring festive sparkle, cheer and happiness to the very heart of our community this December and to give each and every person a positive memory this year."

The event is free to attend with no need to book in advance, but Graham would love people to make donations when they visit to The Donna Louise.
