Underwater search team recovers body of angler from Winterley Pool

POLICE have confirmed they have found the body of man who went missing while fishing at Winterley Pool Farm over the weekend.

An underwater search team was called in to trawl the water near Haslington and recovered his body shortly after noon on Sunday.

The man was reported missing at around 1am earlier that day (May 30).

His death is not believed to be suspicious.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "Officers swiftly attended and began searching the area for the man.

"An underwater search team subsequently found a body in a lake at Winterley Pool Farm. His family were informed and the body has since been formally identified as that of the missing man."

The Cheshire Coroner has been informed about the death.
