UK coffee chain plans first Crewe store in retail park expansion
By Ryan Parker 14th Oct 2026
A growing UK coffeehouse chain is planning to open a store in Crewe, as part of a expansion of the town's main retail park.
Black Sheep Coffee wants to open on Grand Junction Retail Park, with proposals drawn up for a new unit next to Sports Direct.
Applicant, Triton Property Fund, who owns the busy shopping park, has submitted plans for the erection of a commercial building (Class E) and associated physical works.
Triton proposes to build the new unit on the 'unadapted' access road between Hobbycraft and Sports Direct.
Sized at 167 sq. m, the new commercial premises will be occupied by Black Sheep Coffee, with an external seating area.
The existing parking layout around the site will be altered to create three parking bays from the existing two parking bays.
A new zebra crossing will also be installed to link parking spaces with the Black Sheep Coffee entrance.
Black Sheep Coffee is continuing its major expansion across the UK, with 50 new branches planned across 2026.
Headquarted in London, Black Sheep Coffee has plans for 300 outlets by 2028 with franchise agreements in place.
As part of the plans, the current Grand Junction Retail Park access road will be altered to a single lane, with bollards set to be installed in front of the new coffee shop.
The last date for submitting comments on this application is Wednesday 11 November, with a target decision date of Wednesday 2 December.
