Two films are set to be screened at a new Crewe town centre events space for free this weekend, following its official completion this summer.

The Super Mario Bros Movie (11am), and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (2pm), will both be screened at LY2, Lyceum Square, on Sunday 17 September.

This event comes after LY2 officially launched on Saturday 19 August, with film screenings taking place last weekend (September 9).

The Super Mario Bros Movie (11am), and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (2pm), will both be screened at LY2, Lyceum Square, on Sunday 17 September (Nub News).

LY2 has seen the centre of Lyceum Square becoming a mixed-use space to host events, festivals, performances, and activities throughout the year.

The £750,000 development has seen the completion of a new raised events stage, along with the integrated digital screen.

There is also new colourful and multi-functional street furniture, as well as an eagle wall mural on the old market sheds.

The mural is located next to new floor art, a resurfaced footpath and a newly renovated Crewe Lyceum Theatre exterior.

Lyceum Square Car Park has been lost to this new development, with disabled parking bays relocated to the edge of the square.

LY2 now has the ability to host live music, theatre and family events, community performances, art installations, live sport and film screenings such as this.

The project was delivered by Cheshire East Council, supported by Crewe Town Council and overseen by Crewe Town Board.
