Guard 'coaxes' man onto train following incident on tracks on rail service to Crewe

A man had to be coaxed off the track near Alsager Railway Station on Saturday 16 March, affecting a rail service to Crewe (Wiki Commons).
A man had to be coaxed off the track near Alsager Railway Station on Saturday 16 March, affecting a rail service to Crewe (Wiki Commons).

Rail travellers between Crewe and Alsager witnessed an incident at the weekend, with a man on the tracks in Cheshire.

Passengers said they saw Cheshire Police officers walking up and down the tracks near Alsager Railway Station, around 10:30pm on Saturday 16 March.

A man had entered the railway line and was persuaded onto the train by a guard. He was then taken to hospital for assessment.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "There was a male on the tracks, near Alsager train station. 

Passengers said they saw Cheshire Police officers walking up and down the tracks near Alsager Railway Station, around 10:30pm on Saturday 16 March (Cheshire Police).

"A train guard managed to coax the man into the train and officers from British Transport Police then took him to hospital to be assessed." 

One passenger due to catch a train said they were delayed with a message from rail chiefs saying "this train has been delayed by trespassers on the railway earlier today."
