A family-friendly programme of summer activity has been announced for Crewe - aiming to keep the kids entertained during the summer holidays.

'Operation Summer,' has been programmed by Crewe Town Council in conjunction with Crewe Library.

£10,000 of funding has been awarded towards the project by the National Lottery Community Fund.

The Summer Lion and friends will be visiting the Crewe Heritage Centre on Wednesday 27 July (Fools Paradise).

The packed programme of fun activities will take place at five Crewe community locations between Monday 25 July and Wednesday 31 August 2022.

Activities will include circus skills, dance workshops, outdoor performers and nature activities.

Crewe Town Council believe there is 'something for everyone' this summer break.

Children will encounter the Summer Lion and his friends, play some old-school wooden games, make giant bubbles and learn new dance moves at Bhangra Dance workshops.

The full programme can be accessed via the Crewe Town Council Operation Summer.

Councillor Joe Cosby, Chair of the Marketing and Events Committee, commented: "I'm delighted that Crewe Town Council has been able to arrange this fantastic summer programme and gain the backing from a well-known organisation such as the National Lottery.

"With these wide-ranging activities there is hopefully something for everyone."

All of the activities are free-to-access family sessions.

Chair of Crewe Town Council's Marketing and Events Committee, Cllr Joe Cosby (Crewe Town Council).

A film showcasing the summer activities will also be recorded for local residents to see exactly what's in store.

Cllr Cosby added: "From coding to story-telling sessions, dance workshops to heritage clubs, Operation Summer! is a great way to try out new activities or take part in existing interests over the summer break.

"A huge thank you to all of our partners for working with us to deliver for local families."

A small number of activities at Crewe Library require attendees to book a place on (01270 375295).

Let's Chalk activities will be taking place at Lyceum Square throughout the summer (Peter Robinson).

Leaflets for the event can be collected from Crewe Library and the Crewe Heritage Centre.

For all events, children need to be accompanied by an adult at all times.
