Fuel costs are continuing to rise in Crewe with the cost to fill a family car now exceeding £100 - according to the RAC.
The price of petrol saw its biggest daily jump in 17 years on Tuesday (June 7), with a rise of more than 2p a litre.
Today (June 9), the motoring organisation says the average cost to fill a typical 55-litre family vehicle is £100.27.
This price rise was seen at The Co-op, Bradfield Road, petrol station. Fuel had risen from £167.9p to £184.9p between March 23 and today.
It also warned the cost of diesel for a typical family car stands at £103.43
RAC fuel spokesperson Simon Williams said the "throughly depressing threshold of £100 a tank" marked a "truly dark day" for motorists.
He believed prices were "still some way from the peak".
The average cost for a litre of petrol has risen to another record of £182.31p - up from 1.5p compared to £180.73 yesterday (June 8).
For diesel, this has risen from an average £186.57p to £188.05.
Nub News recommends all motorists to compare the prices of petrol stations in Crewe.
Prices have been going up almost relentlessly since winter 2021.
This was the price at the pumps at Bradfield Road Co-op petrol station - back in March this year.
Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak announced a 5p cut to fuel duty on March 23, which is still in force - but clearly not having any positive impact on costs.
The cut was only the second time fuel duty had been cut in twenty years.
Manager of Neptune Fish and Chips, Earle Street, told Nub News: "Everything is increasing in price. All small businesses are struggling for money in our pockets.
"This fuel cut isn't going to make a difference. We used to spend £20 to £30 per week in fuel on drivers and it is now more like £50 to £60 per week.
"The fuel goes very quickly, it is really hard for everybody and I don't know how we can survive if these prices continue."
Crewe Nub News checked out some of the prices of fuel around the town today (June 9).
Morrisons, Dunwoody Way, was the cheapest at £1.79p for unleaded petrol.
