The new Crewe food truck serving locals with 'delicious' homemade items
A new Crewe food truck based on a builders' merchant car park is growing in popularity amongst the local community, serving a range of "freshly homemade" breakfast and lunch items.
Truckin Delicious, based at MKM Building Supplies Car Park, Macon Way, has been trading in Crewe since March.
Owned by Andy Welsh from Newcastle-under-Lyme, alongside his son and a local scaffolder, Truckin Delicious is now popular with nearby Network Rail and Screwfix employees.
Truckin Delicious serves breakfast items, burgers, jacket potatoes, sandwiches, fries and salads, as well as a variety of weekly specials including pulled brisket baps, rotisserie chicken, chilli and curry.
Andy told Nub News: "The management at MKM said would would like a butty van on their car park, with myself, my son and a local scaffolder who are both customers there, taking on this spot.
"Despite living in North Staffordshire, I have worked in Crewe a lot over the years, including Hall's Drinks on Underwood Lane for four years. I do really like this town and think it has a lot going for it.
"We have been open here now for two months and hired local girl, Jade Finch, six weeks ago full-time who has great knowledge of the local area and of the food industry, who has helped us on social media.
"At Truckin Delicious, we want to serve the local community and be a big thing around here. Yes we are here to make money, but most importantly we want to provide a quality breakfast and lunch food service.
"In the future would like to add abit of jazz to the business, including special eating challenges. You need abit of a gimmick to be successful and i believe we can deliver that.
Truckin Delicious serves a selection of chocolate, crisps and soft drinks, as part of a sandwich meal deal.
The Crewe food truck also offers a corporate catering service and aims to support local charities in the near future.
Andy said: "The rotisserie chicken has proved really popular and is on twice a week. The brisket baps are our most popular item, people absolutely love it.
"Everything here is fresh. Nothing is cooked and put on the grill. We are trying to push telephone orders to prevent large queues. People of course are still more than welcome to just turn up.
"Our menu is going to change all the time. We listen to our customer base and will chop and change stuff to what they would like best.
"MKM have been absolutely fabulous with us, a big thank you to them for helping to make Truckin Delicious a success. If we continue to grow in popularity we hope to employ more staff in future."
Truckin Delicious is open 7am to 2pm (Monday to Friday) and 7.30am to 11.30am (Saturday). To pre-order call or text 07845 199479.
