The Chase star to switch on Crewe's Christmas lights for 2024
ITV's The Chase star, Jenny Ryan (The Vixen) is set to switch on Crewe's 2024 Christmas Lights Switch-on, following a "fantastic" five hour event.
Crewe town centre is set to transform into a festive wonderland on Saturday 30 November, for the highly anticipated Christmas Lights Switch-On Event.
Running from 2pm to 7pm, the free celebration promises a magical day for visitors of all ages.
Following its success of 2023, the festive market will offer an array of unique gifts and seasonal treats.
Families can enjoy mini funfair rides, while Creative Crewe in the Market Hall invites everyone to join in Christmas crafts and letter-writing to Father Christmas between 2pm and 4pm.
A highlight of the event is the return of the Community Lantern Parade, adding a warm glow to the evening.
Live entertainment will take centre stage throughout the event, hosted by The Cat Radio.
The main stage in Memorial Square will feature a lineup of performances, starting with the Swinging Woodpeckers Big Band at 2pm, followed by the Lyceum Choir, Crewe Brass, Faye McCallum, and The Baker Street Belles.
The festivities will reach a peak with the Christmas Lights Switch-On at 7pm, led by Father Christmas and the Crewe Lyceum pantomime cast, including Jenny Ryan of The Chase, Malcolm Lord, and Ste Johnston.
Over in Lyceum Square, the community stage will spotlight local talent, including the Tiny Company Youth Theatre, Lyceum Lites, and Love Crewe, culminating with the Lantern Parade setting off at 5pm.
Beloved Christmas characters such as the Christmas Nutkins and Star Bear will be making appearances around the town throughout the day, delighting visitors of all ages.
A Crewe Town Council spokesperson said: "Join us in Crewe town centre this Christmas for our fantastic free Lights Switch On event.
'This special event takes place on Saturday 30 November, running from 2pm until 7pm.
"Browse the festive market for perfect presents and tasty treats and enjoy live music and community performances throughout the event hosted by the Cat Radio.
"Little ones can have fun with the mini funfair rides (charges apply for rides) and the Community Lantern Parade returns again this year.
"Expect visits from magical Christmas characters and a countdown to the Lights Switch On with Father Christmas and the Crewe Lyceum pantomime cast, including the Chase star Jenny Ryan, Ste Johnston and Malcolm Lord."
