Teen convicted of Winsford murder 'refuses' video plea on large hunting knife charge

By Gwyn Griffiths 9th Feb 2022

A TEENAGER convicted of murdering Winsford man Keagan Crimes refused to leave his cell today (Thursday) to plea to charges of possessing a large hunting knife and drug dealing in Crewe.

The 17-year-old from Crewe had been required to enter pleas on two charges via video link at Crewe Youth Court. He is charged with the possession of the knife in Ruskin Road and possession with intent to supply cannabis, also in Crewe.

Both offences are alleged to have been committed on August 5, 2020, two months before the youth killed Mr Crimes during a late-night altercation at Cheviot Square in Winsford.

He was found guilty of Mr Crime's murder and wounding Jason McQuoid with intent [on October 11, 2020] at Chester Crown Court two weeks ago.

He is due to be sentenced on February 21 with trial judge, the Recorder of Chester, Steven Everett, stating he will serve a minimum 12-year term of the statutory life sentence.

The youth refused to participate in the video-link hearing via the young offenders' institute where he is incarcerated this morning and the case was adjourned for four weeks until March 3.
