BROADBAND provider Zzoomm has announced it is building a full fibre network aimed at reaching 52,000 homes and businesses in the Crewe area.
The tech company plans to harness the growth of home and remote working and is promising speeds 33 times higher than other major broadband services in the locality.
Construction work on the network, due to start this summer, and its administration will see the creation of more than 150 local jobs says the firm who implemented a full fibre rollout in Henley-on-Thames last year.
Since the first lockdown the numbers of people working from home has soared by 47 per cent fuelling the demand for faster connectivity from improved broadband services.
Group Facetimes and video calls, broadcasting live sports, online gaming, setting up online businesses and 4K UHD streaming are just a few factors driving the demand.
Zzoomm plans on setting up a local operation to deliver the new network.
Home users will be able to choose download speeds of between 100 and 2,000Mbps and businesses speeds of up to 10,000Mbps.
Matthew Hare, Zzoomm's Chief Executive said: "The construction of our brilliant fast network in Crewe is a watershed.
"For the first time, homes and businesses in Crewe will have a choice of network. We cannot wait to bring our Zzoomm service to residents and business owners who have had to endure slow and unreliable connections and questionable customer service for too long.
"Lockdown has accelerated the move to more flexible working arrangements.
"Zzoomm's new full fibre network delivers for residents and businesses. Our network will help catapult Crewe into the forefront of the best-connected towns in the region and the UK."
