A SUPER slimmer from Wistaston is set to share her dieting secrets

Helen Smith says she has transformed her life by losing two stone after joining a Slimming World group in Nantwich eight months ago.

She and her husband, Darren, who also took part in the weight loss programme, shed a combined weight of nearly six stone.

Now Helen plans on starting a new career helping other people change their lives by slimming down after training as a Slimming World consultant.

Latest government figures showed around one in four adults are obese and it is estimated that, by 2034, this will increase to one in three.

Helen said: "Obesity is becoming such a huge issue across the UK. When I first joined Slimming World as a member, I never dreamed that I would end up helping other people to lose weight.

"Support really is the most important thing. Both my husband and I could not have lost this weight without the weekly help, encouragement and understanding of our own consultant and group.

"Setting targets, sharing recipes and other ideas, and working together as a group to overcome challenges and to celebrate success is so important to a successful journey.

"Like a lot of slimmers, I'd tried to lose weight so many times. But this time I never felt like I was on a diet.

"The eating plan encourages you to eat lots of tasty, filling foods like pasta, rice, potatoes and lean meat and fish, you are never hungry and no foods are banned so there's no deprivation.

"Becoming more active is important too. The programme takes the threat out of activity by showing people, many of whom have unpleasant memories of being forced to take part in activity at school, how they can build activity into their daily routine.

"Everything counts from walking to gardening to washing the car."

Helen's slimming group starts at The New Life Community Church in Fuller Drive on Wednesday (December 29) with sessions at 9.30am and 7pm and you can pop along for more information or to join. Or call her on 07311 322994.
