A CREWE-BASED Scout group is collecting and recycling old Christmas trees.

As homes around town get ready to take down their festive decorations before or on January 5 those in need of help disposing of their tree should look no further than the 1st South West Cheshire Scout Group (The Andrews).

The Scouts, who are based at the group's headquarters in Bedford Street, are preparing for their annual Christmas tree collection and recycling scheme to raise money to support local children between the ages of 6 and 14 gain skills for life.

On Saturday, January 8 they will be out collecting trees from addresses in all CW2 postcode areas of Crewe for a minimum donation of £5.

They will also be visiting any homes in Wistaston, Willaston, Shavington, Gresty, Weston, Wybunbury and Hough that want to donate their trees.

The group says that if you would like to take part in the collect and recycle scheme then you can book an appointment, at which all Covid guidelines will be adhered to, here.

All the collected trees are to be recycled at South West Cheshire District Scouts' campsite, Milldale, in Blakenhall by Monkey Business Arboriculture Ltd (Tarporley).
