Take a look at how Storm Christoph has left roads and parkland submerged in Crewe

By Gwyn Griffiths 20th Jan 2021

IT has been a rough week weather wise and Storm Christoph is still blowing.

The Met Office still have a yellow weather warning in force for the Crewe area until tomorrow (Thursday) morning with prolonged and heavy rain forecast which may lead to flooding.

Several roads were hit today, notably Smithy Lane, which was partly closed near to one of Leighton Hospital's entrances.

Wistaston Brook broke its banks at several points around Crewe as can be seen in our picture gallery.

Elsewhere in Cheshire rising water levels led to Cheshire Police declaring a major incident response.

Flooding on the River Weaver at Hayhurst Marina in Northwich saw 33 narrowboat dwellers evacuated to local hotels, while homes have been flooded in Davenham, Mobberley, Chester, Ellesmere Port, Widnes and Warrington.

There are now four flood warnings in place across the county as well as a number of flood alerts.

We thank local photographer Jonathan White for snapping some of our flooding shots (see the above gallery) in and around Wistaston.
