'Speed cushion' works to bring another closure to Crewe street
By Ryan Parker 26th Oct 2026
Drivers face another road closure on a Crewe street, as speed cushions are reinstated following resurfacing works.
Stewart Street will be closed between 8am and 4pm on Tuesday 27 October and Wednesday 28 October while the work is carried out.
Cheshire East Council confirmed the speed cushions will be reinstated after its footway improvement and road resurfacing scheme on the street was completed.
The cushions are installed after resurfacing to allow the new road surface to fully cure and settle.

The work follows a wider scheme on Stewart Street, between Alton Street and Langley Drive, which included improvements to footways, carriageway resurfacing and renewed road markings.
The council said the work was carried out in phases to improve the road surface and footways for residents, pedestrians and road users.
It thanked local residents, businesses and road users for their patience and understanding while the improvements were carried out.
