Residents, businesses, and visitors are warmly invited to come together to mark the start of Armed Forces Week with a special flag-raising ceremony at Memorial Square in Crewe.

The Armed Forces Day flag will be raised at 10am in Crewe on Monday 22 June, in a visible show of support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community, including currently serving personnel, veterans, reservists and their families.

The Royal British Legion Crewe along with other military groups and charities will come together from 9.45am that morning.

Attendees will witness the official raising of the flag on Memorial Square in Crewe opposite the Municipal Buildings, marking the beginning of a week of recognition across the country leading up to Armed Forces Day.

Everyone is welcome to attend and show their support. Local residents, community groups, veterans, and families are encouraged to join the event and stand together in honour of the Armed Forces.

The main armed forces event will take place at Crewe's Queens Park from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 27 June and Sunday 28 June (Photo: Supplied).

Cheshire East Council Armed Forces Champion councillor (Major), Anthony Harrison said: "Armed Forces Week is a national opportunity to recognise the dedication, bravery, and sacrifice of those who serve or have served in the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force.

"The ceremony in Crewe will provide a meaningful moment for the local community to demonstrate its appreciation and pride."

This simple yet powerful act of raising the flag serves as a reminder of the vital role our Armed Forces play both at home and abroad, and the continued support they deserve from the communities they serve.

The main armed forces event will take place at Crewe's Queens Park from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 27 June and Sunday 28 June.

Two special fly pasts have now been confirmed over the Crewe park for each day.
