The annual Champion Awards hosted by leading dementia specialist, Belong, has celebrated the best amongst its teams, crowning three winners from its Crewe teams in the process.

There was mother and daughter success for Emma Spurrier and for Alicia Nield-Spurrier with the latter picking up the Newcomer Award for what judges described as a level of maturity 'well beyond her years' whilst her compassion and care 'clearly shone through'.

Social care stalwart Emma took home the prestigious Leader of the Year title, thanks to balancing her role making a difference to residents' lives, whilst supporting colleagues to continuously develop their practice whilst providing fantastic care.

Support worker, Jessica Murphy was named the Belinda Jones Dementia Champion of the Year, for her exceptional work ethic, which judges praised for 'seeing people as individuals, looking past any disability or physical health need is truly admirable'.

She was also commended for going above and beyond and ensuring all those in her care felt genuinely loved.

After receiving nominations from the organisation's customers, relatives and colleagues, a panel of independent judges determined winners from a final shortlist, with the results revealed at an evening gala at Manchester Hall.

Belong's chief executive, Martin Rix, said: "Once again, our Belong Champion Awards have shone a spotlight on the incredible work happening day in, day out, across our villages and home care teams.
