Linda Green, from Shavington, has won £1,500 in the latest Crewe Prize Draw after deciding to swap the Postcode Lottery for a competition that supports local good causes.

The Crewe Prize Draw is supported by Swansway Motor group.

Linda, who bought four £2 tickets, said she never expected the phone call telling them they had won.

Speaking to Nub News, she explained why she entered and what the prize means to her.

"I was at home when you phoned me. I saw your message first and then read the email. I thought there's something in this"

Explaining why she decided to enter the Crewe Prize Draw, Linda said: "Because it's local. It supports local charities and the local area. I'd just stopped doing the Postcode Lottery because I'd literally won £10 in five years. I thought I'd rather spend my money here."

Despite occasionally entering competitions, Linda had not won much in the past.

"I'd won £200 on the National Lottery when it first started, and nothing since," she said.

Winning £1,500 has come at the perfect time.

"It's amazing because I'm planning to retire when I'm 67, so it's going straight into my pension pot. I've got about another 18 months to go."

Although Linda has not yet decided exactly how she'll spend her winnings, there could be one family member hoping for a share.

"My daughter turns 30 in September, so she'll probably want some of it as well," she joked.

Linda also said it was especially rewarding knowing her ticket purchase had helped local charities.

"Brilliant, because I know the people who run Hopes and Beams. Iain, Jane and Kate do an amazing job there"

Every ticket sold in the Crewe Prize Draw helps support local charities through the Nub News Foundation, while giving residents the chance to win cash prizes.

There were four runner-up prizes of £20 each and all four winners were from Crewe.

The next draw is now open, with tickets priced at £2 each and there is a minimum guaranteed prize of £1,500. Good luck!
