A new authentic Indian restaurant is taking Crewe by storm, with a clear focus on where its ingredients come from and how they are prepared.

The Royal Saffron, Earle Street, is run by a team of four chefs, all born in India and previously based in Leeds, with experience in Michelin-level kitchens.

Expertly cooking its meat for three to four hours, The Royal Saffron takes pride in where it sources its high-quality produce.

Chicken is supplied by trusted British farmers. Lamb is grass-fed and imported from New Zealand.

Beef used across the menu is Aberdeen Angus. Seafood is sustainably sourced and prepared fresh.

The approach carries through to the menu, which offers dishes across spicy, medium and mild levels. It also covers vegetarian dishes, giving diners a broad selection.

Standout plates include the Royal Railway lamb curry, a nod to Crewe's railway heritage, which stands out for its depth and richness, with tender lamb cooked to perfection.

The Royal Saffron's personal favourite is the Kerala beef curry. Made of flavours of South India, this slow-cooked tender meat is marinated in a spicy aromatic sauce.

Its konju mango curry provides a lighter contrast. Sweet mango is balanced with gentle spice, offering something different on the menu.

From authentic butter chicken, to vegetables mango curry, The Royal Saffron has flavourful items catering for all tastes.

Since opening, weekends at The Royal Saffron have proved the busiest periods. The restaurant is now looking to build more trade during the week, offering a quieter setting for diners.

Bookings can be made by calling 01270 297715 during opening hours. The restaurant offers both dine-in and takeaway from its town centre location, opposite Memorial Square.

The Royal Saffron is open 12pm to 2.30pm and 5pm to 9.30pm on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, and 12pm to 2.30pm and 5pm to 10pm on Friday and Saturday. It is closed on Tuesdays.
