YMCA Cheshire is inviting runners, families, businesses and community supporters to a launch event designed to build momentum behind this year's Crewe 10K.

The free event will take place on Friday 26 June from 3pm to 5pm at the William's Suite at YMCA Cheshire on Gresty Road.

As the official charity partner of the Crewe 10K, YMCA Cheshire is using the event to encourage people to sign up for the race, secure one of its charity fundraising places and find out more about the Family Fun Day accompanying the event on Sunday 25 October.

Visitors will have the opportunity to register their interest in the race, meet the YMCA team and event partners, and learn how fundraising efforts will support young people, families and individuals experiencing homelessness.

The charity says every pound raised through the event will help it continue providing safe accommodation, youth services, wellbeing programmes and opportunities for people across Cheshire.

Guests attending the launch will also be given an early look at plans for the Family Fun Day, which organisers say will feature activities and entertainment for local families alongside the race-day celebrations.

A YMCA Cheshire spokesperson told Nub News: "Whether you're looking to set up a new personal best, support a local charity or simply enjoy a fantastic day out with family and friends, the launch event is the perfect opportunity to get involved."

The Crewe 10K is expected to attract runners of all abilities, from experienced competitors to those taking on their first organised race.

It will feature a closed-road route through Crewe town centre, with organisers hoping the Family Fun Day will create a festival atmosphere for participants and spectators alike.

Attendance at the launch event is free and buffet refreshments will be provided.
