Football stars launch new Crewe storage park on huge fire-hit site
By Ryan Parker 26th Jan 2026
Two Crewe Alexandra FC stars have officially opened a new self-storage park in Crewe, built on the site of a devastating fire.
Club captain, Mickey Demetriou, centre forward, Louis Moult, cut the ribbon at Lock Stock Self Storage's first site in Crewe, located on the corner of Catherine Street and Francis Street.
Lock Stock Self Storage has launched on land occupied by an old printworks, destroyed by a major blaze in August 2024.
The 1.2-acre Crewe South site will now be home to 150 storage containers, solar powered lighting and keyless entry technology.
Currently open 6am to 11pm, it has become Lock Stock's fifth new Cheshire location in the past 12 months, after opening sites in Winsford, Runcorn and Northwich, where there are sites in Lostock and Wincham.

Lock Stock's Marketing Officer, Ollie Beach, told Nub News: "We are delighted to have opened up in Crewe as we expand further into Cheshire.
"Crewe has been a long-term target of ours, there is a real demand for storage here. It is really pleasing to be finally open and already be involved in local community projects and causes.
"We are particularly excited to have opened this site, which is right in the heart of the community and is another important step in our growth.
"This site has a lot of history for over 100 years, including the old printworks and it was once headquarters of a major newspaper's northern edition.
"It was then the victim of arson and the site became available on the back of that. We looked at the location and we thought it would be ideal for what we do at Lock Stock."
Lock Stock, who the latest partner of Crewe Alex and also sponsoring Louis Moult for the season, says the facility is the latest step in its expansion across Cheshire, bringing investment and regeneration to Crewe.
Moult, 33, said: "It's a great partnership. Lock Stock follow similar philosophies as we do as a football club in terms of working with local communities and charities.
"It's good to have them on board here, and we are delighted to be helping promote them as a business.
"It's always good to get sponsors in, especially Lock Stock whose new site is so close to our ground, literally within walking distance.
"We are a well-run club, a great community club, and we do our best to get out and support local businesses like Lock Stock as well as other good causes."

During the official opening, Moult and Demetriou signed a Crewe Alexandra third kit football shirt, the prize in an online competition run by Lock Stock to promote their new site in the town.
The competition is being run on the firm's Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts.
Lock Stock is encouraging people to like and share the competition on social media and to follow the instructions on the post to have a chance of winning the signed shirt.
Demetriou, 35, said: "It's important for us as a club to have sponsors like Lock Stock on board. They are an expanding company and it's great to have their support.
"It's always good to get local sponsors into the football club as that partnership brings financial security to the club and valuable advertising for Lock Stock."
The opening of Lock Stock's eco-conscious Crewe site is the latest step in the UK's largest container-based storage company's growth.
The firm has more than 30 sites in North Wales, the North West and the border counties, with over 5,500 storage units now in operation.
Lock Stock Regional Manager, Richard Warner, told Nub News: "We came to Crewe because it's one of those areas which has high demand for what we do.
"Crewe is getting bigger and bigger and you've got new housing being built around the outside of the town now.
"We currently have access from 6am to 11pm and aim to open 24/7 once we have done some noises tests to ensure local residents aren't affected and will then apply to Cheshire East Council.

"Right now, we have 20 on-site containers with three customers already in. There will be another 20 coming soon, with a target of having a fully complete site by next winter."
Lock Stock's new Crewe site has a brand new advanced online booking system with monitored CCTV and an intercom linked to its head office in Denbigh, meaning new customers can sign up and start storing almost immediately.
There is no minimum rental period, no notice required to vacate, and Crewe customers only pay for the time they use.
Around 70 per cent of Lock Stock's customers are private individuals, house movers or those storing treasured belongings, while around 30 per cent of units are used by small businesses to store tools, equipment, and stock and more.
The company is seeing rising demand from students needing short-term storage, with Lock Stock offering a unique off-site container hire and sale service, delivering units directly to customer locations via its own fleet.
