Crewe T-Level engineers show they’re industry ready
By Ryan Parker 22nd Apr 2026
Students at Crewe Engineering & Design UTC are demonstrating they are ready for the demands of the engineering industry as they complete their Year 13 T-Level Engineering Occupational Specialism assessments.
This year's cohort has made full use of the UTC's brand-new, state-of-the-art workshop, gaining hands-on experience with the same tools, equipment and processes used across the sector.
As part of their assessment, students have been tasked with manufacturing a precision tooling depth gauge.
The project combines key engineering disciplines, including manual machining, hand-fitting and CNC methods.

Alongside the practical work, learners are also producing a detailed technical report and a video demonstration.
These highlight how they have planned their processes, ensured quality, and worked in line with industry-standard health and safety practices.
A spokesperson for Crewe UTC said: "We are incredibly proud of the professionalism, dedication, and technical skill our students have shown throughout this project."
With many students progressing to degree apprenticeships and university engineering courses, the UTC says the future looks bright for its learners.
Applications remain open for the Year 12 intake starting in 2026 via the Crewe UTC website.
Prospective students and families can also arrange a campus tour with Principal Mr Chitty by emailing [email protected] to book a suitable date and time.
