Crewe Heritage Centre will mark Crewe Day with a weekend celebration of the town's railway heritage, featuring miniature steam locomotives, family activities and historic exhibits.

The Crewe Day Miniature Steam Up takes place on Saturday 4 July and Sunday 5 July from 10am to 4.30pm, with last admission at 3.30pm.

Admission is free throughout the weekend as visitors celebrate 189 years since the first train passed through Crewe.

Held in partnership with Foxfield Railway, the event will see the Centre's miniature railway operating steam locomotive rides, giving visitors the chance to experience one of the defining sights, sounds and smells of the railway age.

Team Lead of the Miniature Railway, Mike Lowcock, said: "You can smell it, you can hear it, you can feel it you can see it. That is the experience of riding behind a steam locomotive.

:Come and join us on Crewe Day and get up close to steam.''

Alongside the miniature railway, visitors can explore the Centre's collection of railway and local history exhibits, including the 8000th locomotive built at Crewe Works and the Advanced Passenger Train Prototype (APT-P).

The weekend also offers access to the Centre's "Crewe at War" exhibition, historic signalling displays, interactive exhibits and the elevated viewing platform overlooking the West Coast Main Line.

Crewe Day celebrates the town's railway heritage and the people whose skills and innovation helped shape rail travel in Britain and beyond.

The Miniature Steam Up brings that story to life through working exhibits, historic artefacts and hands-on experiences for all ages.

Crewe Heritage Centre is located on Vernon Way, behind Tesco Extra. For more information, visit HERE.rewehc.co.
