A family-run independent laundry business in Crewe is offering a "modern" wet cleaning service for all types of clothing, set up earlier this year.

Sunrise Laundry Services, Gateway, has been operating on Crewe Industrial Estate since September 2018.

Run by Chris Gillard, 59, wife, Sam, daughter Danielle, (responsible for operations), and most recently, son, Robert, the family business is growing from strength-to-strength.

Mr Gillard told Nub News: "Before starting Sunrise Laundry, I worked for large national laundry business, Sunlight, for over 30 years.

Sunrise Laundry is run by Chris Gillard, 59, wife, Sam, daughter Danielle, (responsible for operations), and son, Robert (Sunrise Laundry).

"I had a great career but like all good things, it eventually came to end and in 2018 I spent a few months catching up with odd jobs around the house that I had neglected over time.

"After leaving Sunlight, a friend reignited my passion for laundry after I spent a few weeks helping him with a project in his own laundry business.

"He encouraged me to look around for a small business and I found one in Stockport in 2018.

"This gave me a foot back into the industry and by September that year we moved to this unit in Crewe.

"We grew quite quickly, but when Covid hit it got much harder. We provided laundry services for a number of care homes and this helped us to survive this period.

"Towards the end of Covid, our customer base had grown massively. When the lockdowns ended our business boomed with the likes of hospitality and holidays coming back.

"From here, Sunrise Laundry has grown from strength-to-strength, including us expanding into more units on Gateway. We are proud of our business growth."

As a business, Sunrise has invested over £500,000 in equipment over the last few years, with that not have been possible without its "amazing" staff and "wonderful" customers.

Sunrise Laundry recently enhanced its portfolio of services to include revolutionary wet cleaning system, 'GreenClean,' an eco-friendly alternative to dry cleaning (Sunrise Laundry).

Employing around 30 members of staff, Sunrise Laundry has a strong Google rating of 4.8 stars out of 5 from 51 reviews.

Mr Gillard said: "Crewe is great for access to motorways, local businesses and employment and we have grown here from just a team of three in six years.

"We believe we do an exceptional job on all of the items we receive, hence the fantastic Google rating."

Sunrise Laundry offers linen hire and laundry services to the hospitality and leisure industry, as well as residential homes, retail, warehousing and light-industrial sectors.

The Crewe business recently enhanced its portfolio of services to include revolutionary wet cleaning system, 'GreenClean,' an eco-friendly alternative to dry cleaning.

This wet cleaning service is available to everyone and suitable for most dry clean items, including suits, wedding and prom dresses, duvets and most clothing items.

Sunrise Laundry's wet cleaning also includes the options of a collection and delivery service.

Mr Gillard added: "As a business, we are currently doing around 7,000 laundry items a day, with 100s of wet cleaning items every week.

"Wet cleaning uses bio-degradable chemicals and water to clean clothes, it is far more environmentally friendly and sustainable than dry cleaning. It is also hypoallergenic which is kinder to the skin.

"Solvent use is being ruled out all over Europe and who knows what will happen in the UK in time, but one thing for sure is that solvent is pretty nasty to the environment.

"Its use is heavily regulated to the point where many traditional cleaners simply don't offer the dry-clean service anymore.

"You will not find any dry cleaners in Crewe or Nantwich anymore, which goes someway to explaining why we launched our modern wet cleaning business this March.

"Our equipment is class leading and with this, the quality of our service has improved too, perfect for the growth of our wet cleaning customer base."

"We offer an express service where if customers come in early enough they can have their items back the next day.

"Here, we also offer free local collections and deliveries within the Crewe and Nantwich area.

"All of the plastics we use are biodegradable, with all also offering reusable suit carriers and duvet bags to help the environment even more.

Sunrise Laundry is open for its wet cleaning service from 8am to 5pm (Monday to Friday and 8am to 3pm (Saturday) (Sunrise Laundry).

"We will happily offer a 10 per cent discount for repeat business, rewarding our loyal customers."

Sunrise Laundry offers free and convenient customer parking, located on the doorstep of the premises.

The Gateway business is open for its wet cleaning service from 8am to 5pm (Monday to Friday and 8am to 3pm (Saturday).
