Police strike gold as £13k worth of bullion found in Crewe raids

Police officers from Macclesfield and Crewe Proactive teams came across several gold bars and drug paraphernalia during two warrants in Crewe this week.
In the early hours of Wednesday 25 September, officers from the Macclesfield and Crewe Proactive teams conducted two warrants at addresses on Badger Avenue, Crewe.
Whilst conducting the warrant, a police dog and their handler that had been deployed to the scene located a first aid box that had around 190 grams of gold bullion inside it. The bars in question are believed to be worth over £13K.
Officers also seized a quantity of cash, cannabis and a number of phones from across two properties raided and arrested a 24-year-old man on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B drugs (Cannabis) and possession of criminal property.
He has since been released on conditional bail.
Police Constable Tyler Edwards, of Eastern CID, said: "This joint effort between the Macclesfield and Crewe Proactive teams has been worth its weight in gold, as their swift work has taken another suspected drug dealer off our streets.
"Warrants such as those conducted on Badger Avenue form part of our ongoing efforts to tackle illegal drugs offences in Crewe and we hope this will provide reassurance to residents in the area that we are committed to dealing with this problem head-on."
