CreweCreates launched a new CreweCreates Artspace on Victoria Street in October (CreweCreates).

Businesses can now look to open pop-up shops in Crewe town centre, as part of the popular Repurposing Our High Streets (ROHS) grant scheme.

As of 2025, the ROHS grant scheme could now help businesses find a vacant unit* (subject to meeting eligibility criteria) in Crewe town centre on a short-term license for six to 12 months.

The scheme, funded by the UK Government Towns Fund, helps open the door to businesses with up to £3,000 available* towards the initial capital costs of occupying a vacant unit.

The ROHS Scheme is interested to speak with businesses and organisations who may wish to consider taking on a vacant unit in Crewe town centre on a shorter term license, as part of the Repurposing Our High Sreeets Grant Scheme (Ryan Parker).

This means those wanting to try a high-street presence could have the chance to trial it - without the long-term commitment.

The ROHS grant can also support established organisations, or those who have just started up or are about to start up.

One organisation who has already benefitted from the ROHS grant scheme is CreweCreates, who launched a new Crewe Makes Artspace on Victoria Street in October.

Crewe Creates said: "Opening a 'pop-up' artspace in Crewe town centre has been an amazing experience for us.

"It has provided us with a fixed space to test out our concept with relatively low risk in a flexible environment.

"The support from the ROHS project has been critical in facilitating the relationships with the landlord while enabling us to make improvements to the space with zero risk."

The ROHS grant can help support established organisations, or those who have just started up or are about to start up (ROHS).

This grant can support either established organisations, or those who have just started up or are about to start up:

  • BUILD YOUR BRAND - with a physical space where potential customers can engage with you and your brand, increasing visibility and awareness
  • TEST YOUR MARKET - without committing to a long-term lease or large-scale investment. You'll get one-to-one feedback from customers on new products or services too
  • BUILD CUSTOMER LOYALTY - by connecting with customers on a personal level, strengthening customer relationships.
  • MAKE THE MOST OF SEASONAL OPPORTUNITIES - such as holidays or local events, and increase footfall with customers already in the area
  • MINIMAL COMMITMENT - with lower setup costs and shorter lease terms, a pop-up shop is a less risky option if you're looking to try something new
  • GET IT ON SOCIAL MEDIA - with news, details and shareable moments from your pop-up shop. Customers can post about their own experience too
  • CREATE A UNIQUE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE - in your own space for a memorable and immersive shopping event that differentiates you from your competitors
