Interesting point about buses. I asked around about this last year when there were diversions and there's an issue with one of the most stupid regulations I've ever come across. Bus routes (and I mean the actual route) have to be registered with the Traffic Commisioners, and have to be advised to the local transport authority (in this case Cheshire East Council) in advance. If a route is officially diverted, even just a couple of late servcies on one night, they have to go through the process AND PAY a new registration fee for each alteration (so when moving work on Nantwich Road caused different alterations on three nights that was three fees for each route affected). And to do it in time needs the highway authority (also CEC) to publish the road closures early enough. So what happens is the bus operators make no official announcement to avoid the fees, CEC don't report them because it would blow back on them for late notice, and the Traffic Commisioners staff pretend they know nothing. Only problem is that the passengers will be waiting for buses that don't come, but since most passengers in Crewe use concession passes the money lost by the operator will be less than the fees they save.

Be nice to know on bus diversions,DG have nothing on their website.
