Sainsbury's to open store at new commercial development on outskirts of Crewe

Sainsbury's is planning to open a new shop on outskirts of Crewe, set to be part of a small new precinct.
This August, Anwyl Construction submitted proposals for a new development south off Newcastle Road, Shavington, adjacent to the new Shavington Park housing estate.
A new 4,000 square foot Sainsbury's Local shop is proposed, set to be the anchor store of the South Cheshire scheme.

On this new precinct, another two units are proposed, (not yet taken), both sized 645 square foot.
Sainsbury's plans to create 20 jobs in this Shavington development, comprising a mixture of full-time and part-time roles.
26 car parking spaces are proposed, including three disabled and two EV, alongside motorbike parking and cycle hoops for five bikes.
A zebra crossing will also be created at the entrance to the site.
In August, Sainsbury's told Nub News it was planning to open at least one site in new residential area of the town, but would not be opening in the town centre.
A Sainsbury's spokesperson said: "Unfortunately we have no requirement for a new convenience store in Crewe town centre.
"The town centre and periphery is already extremely competitive with Asda, Morrisons and Tesco all having large supermarkets nearby.

"There are a number of areas of new housing we are focusing on however."
Sainsbury's Local plans to open 7am to 11pm, seven days a week.
The target decision date for this development is Tuesday 30 September.
