A Crewe community pub is raising funeral funds for a "brilliant" local dad and husband who passed away following a sudden heart attack this month.
The Imperial, Edleston Road, is raising funds to cover the funeral costs of Steve Garrett, 44, from Crewe, who died peacefully in hospital on Thursday 6 July.
Steve had been a regular at the Crewe pub, with his wife, Anna, 38, at weekends for the past three years.
The father-of-three often brought his kids to The Imperial for family events, becoming a well-known figure at the venue.
On Wednesday 28 June, after taking his youngest daughter to school, Steve suffered a sudden heart attack at home in front of his wife .
Steve then fought through more heart attacks in hospital.
He peacefully died in hospital eight days later with his wife, parents, sister and two teenage children by his side.
Joint-owner of The Imperial, Lauri Pass, who is funding Steve's wake from her own pocket, paid tribute to Steve and his grieving family.
Mrs Pass told Nub News: "Steve was a brilliant man who's entire life revolved around his wife and kids.
"He was funny and kind with a big heart. He has left a huge void in this world for those who loved and knew him.
"Sadly, his wife and children now face huge life changes and with such a life changing moment we are trying to help and give one less stress and worry by raising whatever we can towards his funeral costs.
"The wake is already taken care of in full by myself."
"We have started the Just Giving page were 100 per cent goes to the cause, and are already raising cash inside the pub.
"I wouldn't be able to find a single person who could have a bad word to say about Steve Garrett.
"We all want to give him a worthy send off and funerals aren't cheap. Every penny helps."
