A Mediterranean bar and restaurant in Crewe has been granted a permanent alcohol license for its premises - following its conversion from a pub last year.

Swish Lounge, Mill Street, opened in August 2021 at the former Square One bar unit.

"We chose Crewe because its multicultural, there are lots of different people and cultures here. People in Crewe are investing for the future.

"The new high speed train is coming - this is all part of one big plan for the town, says joint-owner of Swish Lounge, Mr Oguz Ozkaya.

Mr Ozkaya was born in Aksaray, Turkey.

The 31-year-old decided to open up a restaurant in Crewe after his business partner Mr Abdulllah Anik, 61, who lives in Crewe - suggested South Cheshire as the his first restaurant expansion.

Swish Lounge serves a range of cocktails and beers alongside its Turkish/Mediterranean food - a wide variety of grilled lamb and chicken served on skewers, in kebabs and in fajitas.

The restaurant specialises in seafood dishes - also serving Turkish vegetarian options.

Swish lounge now has a permanent alcohol license, selling a wide variety of cocktails and beers (Ryan Parker).

Mr Ozkaya told Nub News: "Our permanent alcohol license started very recently. We had a temporary license when we opened, but to get it permanently is fantastic."

"With this restaurant, we wanted to make something new and different for Crewe. Anywhere you go around here, you never have all the perfect ingredients all in one place.

"Here, we wanted to change that. We have nice seating in our roof top garden and in the restaurant. When you come here, you can enjoy the rest of your night and not worry about going to a different venue.

"Our customers have been telling us that they feel like they are in Turkey when they come to Swish Lounge - they say it's like they're on holiday."

Mr Ozkaya also enjoys working in the restaurant as a chef. When his team are busy, he is happy to jump into the kitchen to help staff out.

He said: "All of our meats here are bought fresh every single day from a butcher in Crewe. We purchase all of our meats, fish and chicken from there.

"We get many customers from Crewe, Nantwich, Middlewich and also attract a large amount from Northwich and Sandbach.

"We do not serve normal food, our range is unique. I can one hundred per cent guarantee that you can only enjoy this type of food in Turkey or in London. You can't enjoy this food anywhere else in the local area."

On Trip Advisor, Swish Lounge has a rating of 4.5/5. On Google the restaurant attracts a rating of 4.7/5.

The restaurant serves one hundred per cent beef burgers as well as home-made pizzas, side dishes, starters and desserts.

Mr Ozkaya said: "Nine months into us opening here, we have never had any problems - this relates to our restaurant and alcohol serving.

"We make sure that our customers all get table service - they do not need to stand up and ask for something or get something. Our staff come to customers straight away.

"Overall, everything is going well. We have a family area that is popular. Mums and dads often bring in their kids to the restaurant and they enjoy our children's menu.

"We love to have a family environment in the restaurant and an over 18s environment on our roof top."

Swish Lounge has a number of tv's spread across the restaurant for the showing of sports, music and entertainment.

Mr Ozkaya exclusively told Nub News that he was very interested in expanding to open a restaurant and bar in Crewe town centre.

The Turkish owner added: "Whenever the units in Crewe town centre are available to be purchased, I would like to open a restaurant straight in there - one hundred per cent.

"I have been looking at suitable units within Crewe Town Centre for the past few months but wasn't sure how to enquire."

Swish Lounge is open from 11am to 11pm Monday to Friday. On weekends, the restaurant is open from 10am to midnight.
