Primark snubs Crewe after 'fake' job advert surfaces online
Primark has rejected claims it will be opening a new fashion store in Crewe, after a "fake" job advert was posted online.
On Monday 15 April, a job notice was posted online via 'Lightningbolt Careers,' which said a Primark retail assistant was wanted in Crewe.
This caused a stir on social media, with local residents wondering if the town will finally land the multinational fast fashion retailer.
Primark were quick to respond, confirming it had "no plans to open in Crewe."
Currently, the closest Primark store to Crewe is in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, 16 miles away.
A Primark spokesperson told Nub News: "I can confirm this job posting is fake and we have no plans to open in Crewe.
"We continually review opportunities for expansion of the Primark business.
"However, as you'd expect, we don't comment on speculation about where or when we might open our next stores."
As of 2024, Primark operates 191 stores across the UK, with outlets also in nearby Chester, Warrington and Stockport.
