A popular Crewe carpet store is trialling a "quiet hour" shopping experience for customers, aimed at people who need a "less busy environment" to browse.

United Carpets, Nantwich Road, has responded to its increased number of customers in need of a calmer shopping experience.

Owner and manager, Eddie Davies, is set to trial a new quiet hour over the upcoming weeks.

Quiet hours are becoming increasingly popular in retail, a set time where there is no music, the lights are reduced, and customer numbers are limited.

Mr Davies told Nub News: "We wi'll be making ourselves available after the usual store hours, to open by appointment for people who need a less busy environment to browse.

"Our radio will be switched off and lighting limited where possible, and no other customers will be in the store." 

United Carpet's quiet hour is Initially planned for Tuesdays between 6pm and 7pm.

If it's trial is successful, Mr Davies will be extending the trial so more customers who need a low-sensory environment can benefit from the appointment system.
