Cheshire Police officers are urgently appealing for information after a tyre was 'deliberately set alight' - at a disused building in Crewe.

The arson attack incident on Electricity Street, happened at 4:18pm on Saturday 11 February.

Two Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service engines from Crewe quickly arrived at the scene.

They arrived to find a fire within a disused building - started from a tyre 'deliberately set alight.'

Due to the nature of the incident, Crewe firefighters called Cheshire Police to attend.

Officers arrived at the incident at approximately 4:45pm.

On Tuesday (February 14), Cheshire Police confirmed the incident to Nub News.

A spokesperson said: "Police Officers were called at around 4.45pm on Saturday 11 February - following reports of a fire on Electricity Street.

"It is believed that the fire involved a tyre which had been deliberately set alight inside a disused building. 

"A number of enquiries are underway and anyone with information is urged to contact Cheshire Police quoting IML 1476916 via our website."

Crewe firefighters used two sets of breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to extinguish the flames.
