Man, 22, arrested after crash with police car leaves two officers injured

A local man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and GBH with intent after crashing into a Cheshire Police car responding to an emergency, leaving two officers injured.

On Saturday 7 June, emergency services were alerted to a crash on Crewe Road, Haslington, outside Ego At The Fox.

Around 12.40pm, Cheshire Fire and Fire Rescue, Cheshire Police and North West Ambulance Service arrived at the scene, discovering an emergency vehicle and a black Fiat Panda had collided with one another.

The Fiat driver, a 22-year-old local man, who was also arrested for drug driving, was injured in the crash and taken to Royal Stoke Hospital, where he remains at this time.

A 22-year-old man, has also been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and GBH with intent (Cheshire Police).

Crewe Road has reopened with both officers discharged from Leighton Hospital.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson told Nub News: "At around 12.40pm on Saturday 7 June, a police car responding emergency incident was involved in a collision with a black Fiat Panda on Crewe Road, Haslington.

"Two police officers were injured as a result of the collision, they were taken to Leighton Hospital and have since been discharged.

"The driver of the Fiat Panda was also injured, he was taken to the Royal Stoke Hospital where he remains at this time.

"The 22-year-old local man, has also been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, GBH with intent and drug driving.

"Enquiries in relation to the collision are ongoing and anyone with any information or video footage is asked to call Cheshire Police on 101, or visit www.cheshire.police.uk/tell-us quoting IML 2106061."
