Police appeal on 'mystery' social media poster's Crewe baby kidnap claim

By Gwyn Griffiths 27th Aug 2021

POLICE are appealing to a social media poster who claimed her baby nearly fell prey to kidnappers in a Crewe retail outlet to get in touch with them.

The woman says she was targeted by a gang of three women and one man while shopping with siblings at TX Maxx on the Grand Junction Retail Park last Sunday.

A post from her sister alleged one of the gang tried to snatch the baby from a pram.

Cheshire Police say while they are aware of the post no-one has reported it to them, although they are encouraging anyone to come forward if the incident is a genuine one.

A spokesman said: "Officers are aware of a post circulating on social media regarding an alleged incident in the Crewe area.

"The incident has not been reported to us and we would encourage anyone with any information to report this to Cheshire Police via 101 or here.
