POLICE have revealed a man was stabbed during unrest on a Crewe estate which has prompted the imposition of tough measures.

The force have kept the Brookhouse estate and an area including Davenport Avenue and Claughton Avenue under a Dispersal Order for the second day running while they maintain patrols.

The original order was due to expire at 4pm today, but was extended until the same time tomorrow (Wednesday) as officers are still fielding reports of anti-social behaviour.

The trouble flared up last Friday when police were called to Davenport Avenue (at 10.41pm) where a man in his 40s had suffered a knife injury in an attack.

His injuries were not be "serious", but a subsequent "stop and search" order in place over Saturday and Sunday saw officers arrest a number of people over suspected drug offences.

Police say they have gone on the "front foot" to tackle criminals in the area.

Insp. Andy Smith, of Crewe Local Policing Unit, said: "We're continuing to see anti-social behaviour in the area which will not be tolerated.

"We want to make sure that we are doing everything we can to deter people from this type of behaviour so we will continue with our high visibility patrols and use the dispersal order to prevent further crimes being committed.

"If you spot suspicious behaviour or anti-social behaviour in the Brookhouse Estate, contact us as it is happening, whether that's face to face or by calling us on 101. Call 999 in an emergency. "

They are also appealing for anyone with information on the stabbing incident to come forward or contact Crimestoppers anonymously.

Anyone with information should contact Cheshire Police on 101 or go here. quoting IML 856221.

Alternatively information can be given anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
